• We want to know all the dogs and humans joining our pack! To start, we’ll book a meet and greet (video call or in person) to discuss your goals. Whether it’s just getting out for some daily adventurous exercise or working towards more specific training goals, we have an option for you!

If your dog has any special considerations, such as medical conditions or behavioural issues, we will discuss those during our initial call.

  • If you aren’t home to let us in, we’ll need up-to-date entry information! You can provide us with a spare key, the code to your door, etc.

Due to the nature of our business, all cancellations need to be done within 24 hours to prevent any cancellation fees. If cancellation is made less than 24 hours in advance a fee of 50% of the service cost will apply.

In cases of emergency or sudden illness, please contact TrailWag as soon as possible and we'll do our best to accommodate.

If TrailWag arrives and the dog is not present, a $20 no-show fee shall be charged in addition to the regular service fee.

  • At TrailWag, we have a 3-dog maximum for our pack walks. We believe this is the safest number for our handlers and for the dogs.

  • We love your dogs, and we love you! But we also love our dogs and families too. Holidays and weekends are often the only times we get to spend with family members we may not see regularly.

We may not be available for walking services during holidays or on weekends, but we will communicate our weekend and holiday availability two weeks in advance of the date. This way, you have adequate time to book our service and plan ahead.

If you have a special request for a weekend or holiday, send us an email and we’ll see what we can do.

All holidays and weekends are charged at a premium rate:

    • Holidays: 1.5x the regular rate

    • Weekends: 1.25x the regular rate

  • We may need to cut walks short due to weather conditions and reserve the right to do so. This aligns with our philosophy of not forcing client dogs to do things we wouldn’t make our own dogs do.

Our seasons are becoming more unpredictable, with more extreme weather and temperature swings. This significantly affects dog walking services.

If we deem the weather too hot, too cold, or too dangerous, we will cut the walk short or adjust the type of walk your dog will be on.

In the event of an adventure adjustment based on weather, you will be charged the rate for a Half-Hour Hangout ($30), and we’ll spend time with your dog close to home.

Full cancellations due to unsafe weather (severe storms and warnings) will not incur a charge. We will do our best to give as much notice for these cancellations as possible!

See our too hot, too cold, too dangerous infographic here for more information.

  • Kingston really feels like the tick capital of the world sometimes, so we require dogs to either be on tick medications or using an alternative method of prevention at home.

The nature of our adventures has us out on the trails, and although we will do a quick tick check when we get back to the vehicle, we cannot guarantee the removal of all ticks.

Vaccines also need to be up to date to ensure the safety of all the dogs in our care. You can send all vaccination/medication information to us at sign-up!

  • Dogs will be transported in safe 5-Star Crash Rated crates.

If your dog does not like the crate or doesn’t regularly travel in a crate, we can book a training session to get your dog comfortable with the crate prior to joining our pack walk services.

  • Yes, all dogs joining us for Adventure Hikes will be fitted with a DOGTRA PATHFINDER2 TRX GPS tracking collar. These collars are not corrective; they only track the dog's location to ensure safety. The collars operate via satellite, not cell service, so tracking remains reliable even if cell signals cut out. Our handlers will monitor the GPS map during the hike and will send you a screenshot afterward. You’ll receive the GPS map through Time to Pet at the end of your appointment.

  • Dogs remain on-leash at all times during our Adventure Hikes.

For added safety, we equip dogs with Dogtra Pathfinder TRX GPS Collars, which track their location in real time. These collars are not "stim" collarsβ€”they only provide GPS tracking as an extra layer of security in case of emergencies.

We’re happy to accommodate your preferences for your dog’s gear (collar, harness, etc.), as long as your dog is polite on-leash. If your dog needs extra help with leash work, let's schedule a training session to prepare them for future trail adventures with friends.

  • We require all dogs wear tags with the owner’s up to date contact information. You will also need to submit emergency contact details and vet information so we can get in touch in case of an emergency.

  • We will do our best to monitor the dogs in our care for any potential illnesses or injuries and report back to owners with what we’ve seen.

All staff carry a first aid kit in their pack and are certified in pet first aid. Owners are required to inform us of all medical issues in a timely manner so we can adjust services as needed.

  • We prioritize the health and safety of all dogs during our Adventure Hikes by stopping frequently for water breaks to keep them hydrated.

We clean travel crates between walks and wipe down shared leashes to ensure a hygienic environment. Our handlers closely monitor the dogs while they sniff to prevent them from eating anything harmful.

We also keep a vigilant eye out for signs of discomfort, such as excessive panting, limping, or any unusual behaviours, to address any issues promptly.

  • We know how important it is for owners to be kept in the loop. All owners will receive pictures and notes at the end of their appointments to show what their dog got up to.
